Holiday Baby | Newborn Baby Boy | Charlotte Family and Baby Photographer

Winter newborn sessions, and if I’m being honest, sessions in the winter in general have become my favorite time of year to photograph on-location. The light during the winter months is soft and clear and bright since so many of the leaves have fallen. Everything is less orange and green. And I can usually get pretty light during the day in just about any home, which is what I want for those sweet newborns who often have an orange or red tint to their skin.

When booking an exact time for your newborn session, I’ve always found early morning afternoon to be the best time for babies. They are still generally sleepy and haven’t hit that cluster-feeding in the evening yet, and you can usually get that pretty daylight, which was exactly the case for this beautiful family who welcomed their new little boy in the month of December.

Having the Christmas holiday decor as a backdrop to the session was really special. New babies during this cannot help but remind me of Jesus, and the grace and peace a child can bring into the world. Children are such a blessing.

Look at all his lovely reddish hair and that unmistakable newborn swirl on the top from spending so much time in the womb.

And of course their sweet pup was amazing and on-point with looking at the camera. Seriously, I LOVE including the family pet into your portraits. They are a part of this journey, too, and will most-likely be the first animal your child can say the name and sound of.

Enjoy scrolling few some of my favorite images from this session, and do not miss the little reindeer outfit at the end! So. Adorable.

Remember to book your newborn session early, about 2-4 months out to avoid disappointment and to grab optimal time on my calendar.

Take care, friend! And Merry Christmas!
